working with private chef, ada zhang, was a pleasure. creating the branding for her business was a pleasure, because in her art, there is a story to be told through food. and with ours, we wanted to tell her own story through the design process, and make her unique taste stand out.
every table has a story — this is cooking with ada’s story.
To begin the project, we conducted a brand discovery process to better understand ada’s vision, target audience, and competition. Through in-depth research and analysis, we were able to identify key elements that would inform the design of their brand identity. These included the brand's name, tagline, color palette, typography, and visual language.
For Ada, it was really important to have a clean image, with a design that showed her true personality, and colors that helped her stand out in a market that can sometimes be difficult to break through.
ada originally came with a self-portrait she had drawn for herself - our goal was to use her vision, her drawing and design, and expand it into a full brand identity that felt personal to her, yet professional and versatile. it helps her stand out, helps showcase her personality, and shows her passion for food and telling stories through curated menus and dinner parties. the business card design is eye-catching and playful, and immediately tells you about what this business is for.
the website design for this project was especially fun because we got to explore a playful, yet minimal take on a chef/recipe website. the client wanted it to feel like a helpful tool for people learning to cook, understood the importance of showing her skill, but felt it was important to lead her audience toward booking private events, not just learning how to cook with her.
